  • An opportunity for elementary, middle and high school teachers of American History to Engage the American Past.

    ESD 112, in partnership with Washington State University, Vancouver and three key districts is pleased to present an opportunity for elementary, middle and high school teachers within the thirty districts served by ESD 112 to participate in paid professional development to study American history.

    This program offers a series of linked activities that builds teachers' knowledge of the narratives and themes American history. It provides teachers with the paid time, space and community to adapt what they learn to their specific classroom needs. It will result in teaching tools that excite students about American history, address the State of Washington Essential Academic Learning Requirements, and improve learning.

    Engaging the American Past serves the needs of experienced as well as beginning history teachers. It offers a variety of levels of participation, including a series of five dinner colloquia, a one-week summer institute, and the potential to work in groups and develop leadership.
